3 weeks old

The babies turned 3 weeks old on Friday. Kenton is home and doing well. He is such a calm and peaceful baby. If both girls behavior themselves they will get to come home on Monday. I am so ready to have them all at home and not have to make the trip to the hospital each day. They will get 1 week with Corey before he has to start his days at school. All the babies are now over 6 pounds and gaining weight each day. Here are some new pictures of the babies.

Baby Update

The babies are all doing very well. They got moved to the NICU step down unit on Saturday. Torii and Kenton both have their feeding tubes out and are taking all of their bottles and nursing great. In fact today I was able to nurse them together at the same time and they took their whole feeding from me not needing any supplement from a bottle. Kinley is doing better with her feedings but she gets tired faster and still needs her feeding tube a couple times a day. Kinley is also having to meet with an OT everyday because she favors one side of her neck. They believe it is from being stuck in that position in the womb. She was on the bottom with Torii and Kenton on top of her for the entire pregnancy. All 3 babies are still having sleep apnea problems and until they can go 5 days with no episodes they will have to stay in the NICU. I am hoping that Torii and Kenton will resolve this problem in the next week as they turn 37 weeks so they can come home. Hopefully by the end of next week. Kinley will take longer becasue she still has the feeding issues. We are ready to have them home and feel like this is all real. Right now Corey and I feel like we just have these cute babies to go visit in the hospital but we aren't really their parents. I spend from 11 to 4 each day at the hospital and then spend time with Lily. Lily has been going through some seperation with daddy and me. Corey's parents are here this week and it is great that they get to see and spend time with the babies and time with Lily. It is to bad they are not home with us but we know they are in great hands. Thank you to everyone for the support. Watch for more updates and when the babies get home and are ready for visitors I will let everyone know. People have asked how they can help and right now meals would be a big help as we go back and forth from the hospital and Corey is working.

Hospital Stay

On Saturday when I started feeling the contractions I was very scared that the babies were coming. I am so glad that my body is still cooperating with us. On Saturday when we got to Sacred Heart they brought me back to the triage room and about 3 nurses were working on me. They got the babies on monitors (which takes quite awhile). Then they got the contraction monitor on me and put an IV in my hand. They also did an exam to see how my cervix was looking. I am not sure how long we were back there but it seemed like several hours. The doctor decided that I was at least going to stay the night and they then moved me to my room. The cervix swab came back negative but they were seeing a lot of contractions on my monitor. So they decided to start me on the magnesium and give me the steroid shots to help the babies lungs just in case. About 11:00 at night they started the Magnesium IV and gave me my steroid shot in my butt. Corey headed home to be with Lily and mom stayed with me. Even though they gave me a sleeping pill I only slept a couple of hours.
On Sunday I woke up feeling okay but as the day went on I felt more and more horrible. We were hosting Meghan's graduation party at our house that afternoon so I was by myself and not feeling well at all. I was so excited to finally see Corey and Lily around 7:00 that night. After they left my mom came back up to stay the night with me again. Around 9:00 they had to monitor the babies and it took them until 10:30 to get all the babies on the monitor. This was a horrible hour and a half. I was over heated, uncomfortable, nauseous, light headed and very uncomfortable. They only ended up getting about 10 minutes of the babies reading when they usually do 1 hour. I then went to bed and slept ok.
On Monday we had a preplanned doctors appointment downstairs and so mom, Corey and I headed down to see how the babies and myself were doing. They first checked my cervix which is still looking great. We then had an ultrasound where they measured the babies. Baby A- Kinley weighed 3 pounds 2 ounces, Baby B- Torii weighted 2 pounds 12 ounces, and Baby C- Kenton weighted 2 pounds 11 ounces. They are in the 50-60th percentile and we were ecstatic. The doctor then came in to tell us that it does NOT look like I am in preterm labor but just having braxton hicks contractions because my body thinks I am carrying a 9 pound baby that is ready to come out. They took me off of the Magnesium that night around 11 but they wanted my to stay in the hospital until Thursday to watch me and to monitor my blood sugar levels because the steroid shot spiked them really bad.
It is now Wednesday and all though I am VERY uncomfortable I am feeling much better and can't wait to go home even if I am on STRICT bed rest. I might end up in here again before the babies are born but I am hoping to make it 4-6 more weeks. I will do what ever I need to to keep my babies growing inside me as long as they can. Thank you to everyone for all of the support.

Test Results

Yesterday I found out my test results from the glucose blood test. I did not get good news. Usually when you don't pass the first test you have to go in and take a 3 hour test. Well my levels were so high that they are not having me take the 3 hour test they are just declaring that I have gestational diabetes. I will need to meet with the nutritionist again to go on a diabetic diet. On Thursday I have to go in and learn how to test my blood each day. Most likely I will be put on medication and toward the end of the pregnancy she said I might even need to take insulin shots. I new this was coming because like 95% of woman with triplets get it and the specialist I am seeing said they have never seen a triplet mom not get the diabetes. Still it is just one more thing to deal with that can jeopardize my health or the babies health.

24 week check-up

On Thursday we went in to the doctor to see how our little bundles are doing. I was set on not finding out the sex of the 3 babies but Corey REALLY wanted to know. So on Thursday I gave in and we found out the sex of the babies. Baby A is a girl named Kinley Lynn. She had a heartbeat of 155 and was measuring at 1 pound 14 ounces. Baby B is another girl named Torii Lee. She had a heartbeat of 145 and was measuring at 1 pound 10 ounces. Baby C is a boy named Kenton Douglas. His heartbeat was 150 and he measured at 1 pound 10 ounces. The babies are all doing great. We go back in 2 weeks and then after that we go in twice a week until the end. My mom has the ultra sound pictures so I will post those at a later date, but here is a picture of my tummy today at 25 weeks.

21 week check-up and Easter

Triplet Up-date
Last Friday, April 22 we went in for our 21 week check-up. The babies all look great and they were moving like crazy during the ultrasound. Each baby gained 6 ounces. So baby A is now 15 ounces and babies B and C are each 14 ounces. Baby A is still sitting low on my cervix but we are not to concerned about this. Baby C still has some a problem with its umbilical cord but as long as the baby is growing we are not going to worry. The babies have been moving a lot and Corey felt baby B for the first time last night.

As for me I have gained 20 pounds and it is all baby. My tummy is measuring at a full term pregnancy and we still have 2 1/2 months left. I have been very uncomfortable with sever back and hip pain along with pressure from the babies. At school I was getting very light headed and the doctor said that is because I am constantly getting up and down out of chairs and it is affecting my blood pressure. As of Monday I am done working and on modified bed rest. This means I can still get up and move around but I need to get a lot of rest. I go back in every 2 weeks for awhile and then it will be every week.

Easter 2011
On Sunday we celebrated Easter with my mom and Bob, Erika and Jacob and their 2 girls emily and Lindsey. We had a great day together. We went to church and then had lunch. The girls found Easter eggs and then we had a nice ham dinner.

18 week ultra sound

Corey, my mom and I went in yesterday for our very long ultrasound. This is the ultrasound where they check everything about the babies to make sure they are developing correctly. It took a little over an hour per baby to check everything. Then afterwards one of the doctors came and went over the results with us. Over all the babies are developing very well. Baby A is 9 ounces, Baby B and Baby C are both 8 ounces so they are right at the 50% for multiples. Baby A had a heart beat of 144, baby B was 147 and baby C was 151. It is always great to hear those little hearts beating. Although they are all developing well we are starting to have some complications. Baby A's placenta has moved over my cervix and has cause placenta previa. The doctor sounded hopeful that the baby would move out of the way, but until then I have to watch for bleeding. Baby C's placenta is not developing correctly. The umbilical cord is attached to the thin part instead of the thick. This can cause the baby to not develop as quickly. Also baby C has one kidney where the urine was not flowing as quickly as it should be. The doctor said if this doesn't take care of its self then baby C will need to see a specialist when it is born. I will go back in 3 weeks and they will check to see how baby C is developing compared to its siblings. They will also see if baby A has moved away from the cervix. The doctor just told me to take it easy and not lift things or drive. I will be going back to work and trying my hardest to not get stressed and sit as much as it is possible in 1st grade.

16 Week Check-up

div>Today I went in for my 16 week check-up. They started by checking my cervix which is looking good. Baby A's placenta is close to my cervix so they said they will need to watch it and make sure baby A is not putting pressure on the cervix. Then they did an ultra sound. Baby A is in the middle with its head down. Baby b is on the right and is in the breech position. Baby C is on my left side right under my ribs and is curled in a ball. So I can blame my shortness of breath on baby C, and my frequent bathroom breaks on baby A. They all look good and are moving around alot. in fact baby A was kicking baby C. And baby C was kicking baby B. Baby B had its hands on its face like it was saying "Stop it you Two!" Baby A's heart beat was 149, baby B's 143 and baby C's 159. I go back on April 1st for our long 3 or more hour ultra sound where they check everything out.

Wide awake at 2 am

So it is 2 in the morning and I am wide awake trying to figure out what we are going to do with Lily next week. It is so hard because Corey and I would love to stay home with her but we just don't have the days. I have 5 days left and I need them for doctors appointments. Corey stayed home with her last Thursday and my mom took Friday off.

The nice thing about being up at 2 is a nice bowl of kix cereal.

Really .... only 3 months

So the hardest part of my pregnancy right now is the fact that I look and feel 7-8 months pregnant. With the back aches, shortness of breath, heavy belly, and I am so hot all the time. Since I am really only 14 weeks along I also have the morning sickness (I am so tired of throwing up), tiredness and sense of smell. I am hoping that I will have a small part of my pregnancy where I can just enjoy being pregnant. 5 months seems a long ways away and just can't imagine what else is to come.

13 week Triplet check-up

Today Corey, myself and my mom went to the Fetal and Maternal doctor at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane. We got to see the babies which was a huge relief for us.

Baby A had a heart beat of 158 and was 11.7 cm.

Baby B had a heart beat of 158 and was 10 cm.

Baby C had a heart beat of 161 and was 10 cm.

They are all growing well and it was neat to see them all. Baby A just wanted to lay and suck its finger. Baby B was a mover and wouldn't sit still. Baby C had its feet up by its head. Today we met with several doctors and they just talked about what a triplet pregnancy can be like. They are hoping that I can work through the school year as long as everything is going OK. Are goal is 35-36 weeks which would be the end of July about 1 month early. I go back in 3 weeks and then after that every 2 weeks. Enjoy their 1st baby pictures.
